i've had my head in the sand. on purpose. because i didn't want to rename my blog.
i can't fight it anymore. i've been called out by science... and... cap'n funpants.
so, here it is:
in 2015, scientific american printed an article titled, The Brontosaurus Is Back. this article probably got its' historical brontosaurus details by amalgamating my first few blog posts from 2009 & 2010 (but removed all of my wit). a 300-page study was conducted on my fave family of sauropods - the diplodocids - and what they found (or think they found) was that a certain type of brontosaurus actually did exist! and it's called the brontosaurus excelsus!
now, the jury is still out on just how many hairs were split to come up with this but i feel like it's my duty to tell the world about it.

a pause...

DREADNOUGHTUS - best heavy metal band name ever **#2 in the series**
meaning FEAR NOTHING, this 65 tonne beast ate plants like nobody's business.
hard core plant muncher...
scary faced herbivore...
salad toothed intimidator...
argentinian vegan monster...
if this was my death metal band, song titles would include:
shrubbery
i am super massive
bones exposed
fossil of a nation
and we would cover Meat is Murder by The Smiths
this would be the album cover:

mansourasaurus shahinae
back when egypt's western desert was a coastal jungle slash mostly under water (so about 73 million years ago), there were a few crazy big lizards hanging out there.
very few fossil remains have been found in africa but this new guy just showed his left dentary to the folks at the mansoura university who have been trying to find a needle in a haystack for years.
according to live science, this find is a pretty big deal because this is only the 6th dino species to be found on that continent.
